PNP – Northwest Territories (NTNP)

The Northwest Territories Nominee Program (NTNP) is the Provincial Nominee Program of the Northwest
Territories. It allows the territory to nominate skilled workers, semi-skilled workers, and business applicants
who can contribute to the local labour market and economy.
Applicants nominated by the Northwest Territories may apply for Canadian Permanent Residence for
themselves and their eligible family members. Final Permanent Residence decisions are made by
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
NTNP Streams
1) Employer-Driven Stream
• Skilled Worker – for individuals with skilled work experience and a job offer in NWT
• Entry Level / Semi-Skilled – for workers in lower-skilled occupations with employer support
2) Express Entry Stream
• Aligned with the federal Express Entry system
• Requires an active Express Entry profile
• Candidates must meet one of the federal economic programs
3) Business Stream
• For experienced entrepreneurs and business owners
• Requires active investment and management of a business in the Northwest Territories
• Minimum net worth and investment requirements apply based on business location
General Eligibility Highlights
• Valid job offer from a Northwest Territories employer (for worker streams)
• Relevant work experience and qualifications
• Language proficiency meeting federal and territorial requirements
• Ability and intention to settle permanently in the Northwest Territories
• Employer compliance with territorial requirements
Application Process
• Employer submits an application to NTNP (for employer-driven streams)
• Receive territorial nomination upon approval
• Apply for Permanent Residence through IRCC
• Apply for a work permit if eligible while PR is processed

• IRCC processing fees and Right of Permanent Residence Fee (RPRF)
• Biometrics fee
• Medical examinations
• Police clearance certificates
• Language test results
• Educational Credential Assessment (if applicable)
Processing Time
NTNP processing times vary by stream, employer readiness, and application volume. Provincial processing
may take several months. After nomination, Permanent Residence processing timelines are determined by
IRCC.
